EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

PATTI WILSON

 By Nina Lara, FNP-C

I have had the pleasure of knowing Patti Wilson for 22 years and would like to share with you what makes her so special.  Patti rejoined the staff of Grants Pass Clinic earlier this year as a clerk in the Medical Records Department. From 2008 to 2019 she worked for PrimaryHealth as an Exceptional Needs Care Coordinator where she had a special interest in working with foster children and those with special needs.

What many of you may not know is that from 1996 to 2008 she was the Medical Assistant for Dr. Elbert Collins, Grants Pass Clinic OB/GYN physician. So Patti has a 24 year plus tenure as an employee of the clinic or an affiliated organization. That is an amazing record!

Patti’s most recent position is what we like to call Greeter Extraordinaire. During the COVID-19 pandemic emergency she is the masked person you will find at our front door politely greeting and screening every single person who comes into the clinic. Patti is our main gatekeeper and she is doing a fabulous job keeping patients, staff, and visitors safe.  Soon she will be returning to her regular position in Medical Records.  Thank you Patti for agreeing to help out as our Greeter Extraordinaire.

When asked what she likes most about Grants Pass Clinic she replied “its longevity in the community”.

Patti’s favorite restaurant was a difficult choice since she likes so many, but she settled on the Twisted Cork as number one. She enjoys wine tasting in the beautiful Applegate Valley and playing golf at Dutcher Creek and the Grants Pass Golf Course. In the future she hopes to be able to spend more time on the courses in Medford.

A huge Oregon Ducks football fan, Patti loves attending home games. Go Ducks Go!

What is really interesting about Patti is that she and her identical twin Mary owned a restaurant in Grants Pass called “The Skinny Spot” about 30 years ago.  Many patrons were either diabetic or involved in weight watchers. This restaurant may have been ahead of its time!

Penguins and dolphins are her favorite animals and she has had collections in the past, but is no longer collecting them. Gracie is the name of her domestic longhair indoor cat who will turn six in October.

The Sound of Music is her all-time top movie pick, but there are many others she has enjoyed including dramas, comedies, musicals, and the scary stuff.

Not surprisingly, Patti’s favorite holiday is Christmas. The two people she would most love to share a meal with would be Mother Teresa and Jesus. A long-anticipated dream vacation to Italy and the Holy Land was cancelled at the last-minute in March. It was delayed due to the same virus that landed her at our front door wearing a mask. Let’s hope this trip is rescheduled when it is considered safe to travel.

Life itself is what makes Patti the happiest. Her personal motto is to live each day to its fullest. This positive philosophy describes perfectly someone who has dedicated so much of her life to helping others.
