Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine focuses on illnesses and diseases associated with internal organs. “Internists” are specially trained to treat the diseases and illnesses encountered by adults. Internists manage complex and difficult diseases providing primary care for everything from colds and flu to more chronic problems such as heart attacks, high blood pressure, diabetes, and pneumonia.
The term “Internist” should not be confused with an “intern,” who is a doctor in training. An Internist is a fully trained physician specializing in Internal Medicine.
Internists at the Grants Pass Clinic are certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. “Board Certified” means that in addition to their medical training, they have passed a rigorous examination to verify their proficiency in the specialty of Internal Medicine.
